What is going on in Rydens Way?

What happened to our trees?

A lot has been happening in a short space of time. We can confirm that in January 2011 a new application was made to register section 4 of Rydens Way as a Village Green.

The application has been validated by the Commons Registration Officer at Surrey County Council.

The next stage is that adverts will be placed in the local press, and signs put up around the application site. The aim of this is to see if there are any objectors to the registration. We can confirm that the advert appeared in the Woking News and Mail on Thursday 24th February, and the signs were placed around the Green.

We have been informed that the developers attempted to remove trees without having the required Section 278 agreement in place. The trees are on the land that is currently the property of Surrey County Council (Highways Dept), and is not the property of the developers. This matter is being dealt with and until the legal position is clear we will make no further comment, other than to say well done to the residents and local County Councillor Liz Bowes for preventing the wholesale removal of the trees on the green.

We have been told that no further work should be carried out on the trees until the Village Green Application has been determined.
